Come join us on 7 & 8 February 2025 from 6pm to 9pm
PAssionArts Street is a fun, interactive and immersive experience for everyone, young and old, to participate in various hands-on-arts activities. You can enjoy a vibrant mix of performances and explore stunning array of visual arts installations re-staged from PAssionArts Festival (PAF), Giant Delight and JOYOUS ART-VENTURE, curated by Art Director, Sam Lo.
This exhibition takes food to an entirely new level, showcasing its cultural significance through bold and imaginative installations. From iconic local dishes like chilli crab to the much-loved durian, each piece delves into how food not only sustains us but also binds us together as a community. The vibrant, larger-than-life displays offer a playful yet meaningful exploration of food's role in shaping shared identity and daily joy.

"Kiap Kiap" is an installation highlighting a familiar yet unique culture where Singapore hawkers use wooden clothes pegs to mark orders. It incorporates nostalgic elements like hawker plates and wooden pegs, celebrating the communal joy and diverse tastes food brings to these vital social hubs in our neighbourhood.

The artwork integrates pineapple symbolising wealth and prosperity in Chinese culture, with Batik Art, linked to Malay culture. It celebrates Singapore's multiculturalism and the harmonious society we enjoy. The wooden plank structure symbolises unity, while the batik artworks of local fruits highlight Singapore's shared cultural heritage.

BLISS-CUITS AND INSTANT DOPA-MEE

Comfort food provides consolation and warmth. Often, they are associated with childhood or home cooking. In Singapore, we each have a go-to snack to indulge in when we are stressed, restless or peckish; a sugary rush for the kid after a test, warm and savory instant meal for the up-at-night working adult, or familiar bites of a timeless treat for the leisurely. This artwork celebrates the types of comfort food that many of us enjoy, while also playing upon iconic and familiar packaging to engage the audience's memories of them enjoying these foods.
